Candles in hurricane lamps- you can get translucent stones of a suitable color to put into the lamp.

Susan asks…

What to use instead of Flowers?

Does anyone have any ideas of things to use for centerpieces and/or for the bridesmaids to carry instead of flowers? This would be for a very small (50 ppl max w/ wedding party) and casual wedding???

Thanks For the Ideas!!

Susan answers:

You can use anything from feathers, candles, glass rocks, sand, seashells, starfish, branches, almost anything you can imagine can be creatively placed on the tables so that it goes along with your theme..the bridesmaids can hold fans, large shells, bows, or anything like that for a lovely environment for your 50 people without breaking the bank.

Ruth asks…

How much should I charge for this cake?(pic included)?

I made this cake for a friend’s bachelorette party and now someone wants to actually pay me to make one for themselves. It’s a 2 layer chocolate cake with buttercream icing, fondant, and a giant crispy rice penis centerpiece covered in marzipan. Any ideas on what I should charge for something like this? Thanks!

Susan answers:

In the right city, you could have a brilliant career ahead of you. I hope the locals appreciate that they have such a talented artist living in their presence. With the marzipan, buttercream icing, the excellently craftsmanship, you should charge no less $100, but I’d like to see you get at least $150. Now what the person who wants one is able or willing to pay may be less. Before you talk to them about the price, decide what your bottom line is. If you think you want to make more novelty cakes as a profession, you may need to sell one for less than it’s worth, just to get your name out there.
