haloween wedding….traditonal ceremony, costume ball reception..?

got some great ideas for jackolantern centerpieces and blacklights under tables, and trick or treating around the hall for the kids. still looking for great ideas and could also use some ideas and sites for the reception costumes for me and my new hubby. want to keep it mask and face paintless( i know not real words but u get the idea) any suggestions..Thanx

Susan answers:

I like the idea of carrying a mask–like a masquerade mask or a Marte Gras feathered mask. Do something elaborate.

What I would recommend is something renaissance. What kind of dress are you wearing? If you had something rather Renaissance for the costume…

You could probably keep on your actual wedding dress, and merely add a skirt around the bottom that turned it into a similar Renaissance costume. Especially if you went Scottish, the groom could merely change from tux pants to a kilt.

Or do the Queen of Hearts from Alice

or Cinderella
Something rather big and poofy would remain that you would be the center of attention–as the bride should be.

For food, pumpkin juice would be rather harry potter. Or chilled pumpkin soup for a more elegant feel. Decorate with black and silver centerpieces to make it look more elegant. Be careful with “green” products b/c of the artificial dyes. You don’t want to walk around with green teeth.

I think it sounds like a GREAT idea. I love halloween weddings. Congrats.

Wedding venue/ceremony and reception help!?

Hi Everyone, I am trying to plan a wedding for next year (aug-2011). I would like to find a venue in either Philadelphia or NJ for around 110-120 people. I am not really sure about any places in PA or NJ so I need your help…This is what I would ideally like: a family style dinner (where they keep bringing food like russian/french style), I would like to hold my ceremony and reception in one place, and perhaps maybe even someone knows of a place that can do your centerpieces and chair covers all included in the package? I am trying to weigh my options and see if anyone out there has any ideas or advice for me. It would be greatly appreciated. Even if a place does not have everything included the food/alcohol and the place to have my ceremony/reception in one is very important. Thanks so much!!

Wedding Help?

I am getting married on July 20th of this year. I know you have to send out invitations 2 months before the wedding. What is the latest I should order them?

Second question, I am thinking of using fishbowls for my centerpieces at the reception. Any women who have gotten married use this idea? How did it go? How did the guests like it, did they end up taking the fish at the end of the night?

Only helpful answers need apply, thank you!

Susan answers:

I am doing the fish bowl thing but i am going to get different colored pebbles in the water and put floating candles on the top!
