Helen asks…

I’m getting married!!!?

I need some major help!!! I’m getting married and I’m having a hard time finding beautiful centerpieces. My dress will obviously be white and i was thinking that my brides maids will wear a champaign color. I want beautiful flowers and candels to set a romantic, simple yet elegant style/feel.

I need help finding centerpieces and also other ideas on colors for my brides maids!!! Thanks for the help!!!

Susan answers:

Find some globe shaped glass vases that you could float candles in and then have a florist create wreathes of flowers to go around the base of the vase. Use whatever color you decide for your bridesmaid dresses. You don’t mention what time of year you are getting married, but you may want to use colors that are significant for the time of year. For example, if you are getting married in December, some beautiful holly wreathes would look spectular with white candles floating in the water. Or for an autumn wedding you could use yellows, oranges, russet or other rich autumnal colors. Use the time of the year to dictate your color palette.
Have fun and I’m sure your day will be special.

Prom Themes … Any suggestions?

At my school, we had to use the class of 2007′s colors. They were red, black and white.
We decided on using red and white roses for most of the stuff, like centerpieces and the picture set up, with black accents throughout. The tickets and favors will also have a red rose imprinted on them.
We need to come up with a theme name that obviously has to do with roses. It has to be “elegant“, but everything we think of sounds kind of tacky. We’re having a prom meeting at 5 pm (Eastern) and I would love any suggestions you have!
Thanks!

Hey guys. I am a former student body president and currently work as prom advisor for a large California high school. I created this website as a resource for student councils to share ideas for almost every school activity.

Here is a link to our list of over 100 prom themes.

Blue Bridesmaids – Color of flowers? … Oui Vey?

Turns out the bridesmaids will be the color of Serene blue, but now they’re having a hard time finalizing the color of the flowers for the centerpieces and for the bouquet they will be holding.
They’re hoping for the centerpieces to be Red flowers (roses mostly) with a pop of pink to lighten it up a bit (since it’s right between winter and spring) and with that comes the beautiful latin lady rose? Think that’ll work okay?
They don’t have to be light colors do they? They’re looking for a classy look… maybe a little more on the elegant side… and to show beauty in a bold way yet still have everything blend.
Serene Blue ( not navy and not sky blue) , red/pink flowers (but they want something special for their bouquets?), and champagne-ish/gold-ish tablecloths and chair covers?! Hmm…
(It won’t be a “rainbow of colors” will it? The hall is a beige/off-white color mostly, by the way.)
… And should the bouquets of the bridesmaids be similar to the centerpieces (yet unique?!)
